Entries open: The Feilding and District Art Society 2023 Art Awards


“Terms and Conditions

  1. The entry fee of $20.00 (incl. GST) applies for each artwork entered into categories 2, 3, 4, and 5. All funds must have cleared by the entry deadline to guarantee inclusion in the exhibition.

  2. A limit of four artworks may be submitted by each artist, with no more than two entries per category.

  3. Artworks must be submitted ready for display. Works to be hung should have D-rings and string positioned no more than one-third down the frame or canvas.

  4. Freestanding artworks must be suitable for display on a plinth (no floor-mounted work) and be accompanied by any supports or stands required for presentation.

  5. Any specific installation requirements should be included in the application form. The Feilding and District Art Society will adhere to these where possible, but may be limited by wall or floor space.

  6. All artworks must be original, made in the last 12 months and not previously exhibited in the Manawatū. Images used without the copyright holder’s permission, or produced in a class, are ineligible for display.

  7. All artworks must have a clearly-printed swing tag securely attached to the back, detailing:

    • Artist Name

    • Artwork Title

    • Media

    • Price

    • Award category

  8. Couriered entries must be delivered in re-useable packaging with return postage paid. If suitable return packaging is not provided, it will be the artist’s responsibility to arrange an alternative method of collection.

  9. Whilst the Society will take all reasonable care when handling artworks, it is the responsibility of the artist to insure their work.

  10. Artworks submitted for the Art Awards must remain at 104 Manchester Street, Feilding, for the duration of the exhibition.

  11. Artworks submitted for the Art Awards will be sold exclusively through the Feilding and District Art Society. During the exhibition, these artworks cannot be available for sale elsewhere.

  12. The Society reserves the right to photograph and reproduce artwork images and artist biographies for promotional purposes before, during, and after the exhibition. 

  13. The Feilding and District Art Society collects commission on all artwork sales: 30% for members of the Feilding and District Art Society and 40% for non-members. Artwork pricing must include commission.

  14. Artwork sales will be communicated on the last day of the month in which the work was sold, and net sales proceeds debited into the artist’s nominated bank account by the 20th of the following month.

  15. All taxation and GST liabilities are the responsibility of the artist.

  16. All unsold artworks must be collected at 4pm on October 31. The Feilding and District Art Society takes no responsibility for damage or loss to artworks collected after this date.

  17. The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to sell works on layby. Where this is the case, artists will receive payment for net sales once the artwork has been paid for in full.

  18. All works accepted for display will be eligible for prize monies. Judges reserve the right to not award a prize in any given category.

  19. Judges’ decisions are final. No correspondence will be entered into.

  20. Prize monies awarded at the opening ceremony will be debited into winners’ bank accounts on the next business day.

  21. The Feilding and District Art Society reserves the right to exclude from display any artworks which: Cannot be accommodated due to inadequate wall or floor space; Display themes or images which it deems offensive.

  22. Any artwork not compliant with the Terms and Conditions will be rejected with no refund issued.

    Youth Award - Additional Terms and Conditions:

  23. Entry to category 1, the Youth Award, is subject to an entry fee of $5 (incl. GST) for each artwork entered. All funds must have cleared by the entry deadline to guarantee inclusion in the exhibition.

  24. The winner of the Youth Award will be required to submit a one-page essay within one month of receiving their prize, to be used for promotional and accountability purposes. The essay must address how the recipient intends to use their funds, and the expected impact of the prize on their creative practice.”
