We make it happen.  We get up, and we do it.

 The Getaway Girls are a bunch of NZ artists working in contemporary arts practice.

Spread across NZ, The Getaway Girls commit to ‘getaway’ twice a year: stepping away from everyday issues; coming together to engage, share and offer support.  Sharing creative approaches to overcome barriers, enabling participation, celebrating differences, and ultimately enhancing wellbeing among the group.

The Getaway Girls grew from this need for support – despite differences like locations, gender, age, culture, and artistic influences.  Supporting the drive to carry on creating, to remain in individual practices, and most importantly, to following their own unique creative path.

The Getaway Girls exhibition features work inspired by our time together.
