Robyn Douglas

Art has been part of my life since I was a youngster starting with watercolour painting and then progressing to oils acrylics and mixed media with the styles changing from traditional to modern. Sculpting in Oamaru stone and later Takaka marble explored 3D forms and then 13 years ago I was lucky to be introduced to glass in a beginners casting workshop run by Di Tocker. Classes at the Wanganui glass school and various master classes followed and 3 years later I bought my own kiln. I have been involved with the medium ever since and the possibilities for innovation and challenge are never ending.

Flower Power: Just before Christmas 2021 I decided to make something smaller and more frivolous than plates and vases. Using powder and handmade moulds the flowers proved a joy and their presentation evolved from wall hangings in different sizes to the light fitting you see here. More experimentation will follow.
