Justine Palmer
After completing a N.Z Diploma of Art and Design and graduating in Wanganui 2020 this has opened my love of glass more. I have always been around glass artists and now to be able to be one is really exciting.
My love of flora and fauna reflect on my everyday life which enables me to create many fantasy animals. I have been inspired by many things including my love of the fly fishing on the Tongariro River.
I use the glass casting technique a unique form of directing molten glass into a mould where it hardens, this has been heated by the kiln. Thus, leaving you with your glass piece.
Glass is vibrant, exciting, and making a unique piece as two are never the same brings about a creativity hidden inside that is like child being able to ride a bike for the first time!
With my future plans of producing glass, I just cannot wait to unlock the key watch this space! Justine Palmer cast glass has been purchased in NZ and overseas.
Rainbow Trout: My love of fly fishing developed about ten years ago sometimes I think it is more about being at 'One' with myself and nature. I can stand in the Tongariro River for hours and simply not catch anything or spend my time tying new flies to go on my rod, after losing flies and not catching any trout, the trees look like Christmas light !
The New Zealand Rainbow Trout came into NZ from North America and isn't as widespread as the brown trout. It is common in lakes and rivers my love is on sundown as the rainbow trout are on the jumping rise from the river its beautiful.
