Hannah Bremner
I have worked with cast glass as my main sculptural medium for for more than 20 years. During this time my work has been exhibited in public and private galleries in New Zealand, Japan and the UK and has featured in international publications in Germany, Australia and America.
I make sculptural work utilizing mixed media and cast glass to create accumulations and installations. My recent projects are affected by my experience working with heritage collections held in galleries, libraries, archives and museums.
I am in love with glass, its alchemical and transformative power. I don't think I will ever get tired of it.
This quote from Object Space provides insight in to my work:
"Bremner's Wunderkammer displays a collection of contemporary curiosities, created and arranged by their maker. This accumulation of works extends the concepts explored in Bremner's The Imaginary Archives and Collection Box series. Wunderkammer is concerned with issues relating to identity and transformation, as well as methods of preservation. By using various methods of display, Bremner questions how display technologies affect perceptions of value and meaning."
